Naná Rizinni's trio

With Afro-Brazilian rhythms, electronic beats and weighty bonhamesque drumming that set a background for both organic and synthesized instruments and textures, London based Brazilian drummer and composer Naná Rizinni brings a genre-bending approach to contemporary jazz. Appealing singable melodies and beats one can dance to share space with free improvisation, complex harmonies and glitchy sound-mangling for a fresh, adventurous experience.

Rizinni’s drumming skills made her a sought after player amongst Brazilian and international acts such as Johnny Hooker, Paulo Miklos, Jorge Drexler, As Mercenárias, Edgard Scandurra, Adriano Cintra (CSS), Vive La Fête, to name a few. She toured nationally and internationally playing venues and festivals such as Rock n’ Rio, Primavera Sounds, SXSW and Lollapalooza.

As a songwriter, in addition to original music released on all four of her albums, Naná also writes for theater and cinema. As a music producer, she has produced songs for artists such as Johnny Hooker, Luisa Sonza, Tiê, Marina Melo, amongst others. She also signs the music production of her latest album, Maracujá Azedo released in 2021.

The album Maracujá Azedo has some incredible collaborations with artists such as keyboardist Jason Lindner, saxophonist Filipe Nader, bassist Ana Karina Sebastião, pianists Rafael Montorfano and Vitor Arantes, saxophonist Anderson Quevedo, amongst others. In addition to composing, producing and recording drums, Rizinni was responsible for playing synthesizers, electronic programming and sound effects that define the unique aesthetic of this work.

Currently, Naná is working on her new album to be released in May 2024. She is collaborating with her trio consisting of Jake Burgees (also known as Mark Cake) and Harry Jones (also known as Lazy H), both based in London. They will not only be working together in the studio but also performing on stage to showcase this new work.

Mark Cake, a versatile producer and multi-instrumentalist with a knack for crafting introspective music, brings his expertise to the project. He has collaborated with a diverse range of artists, demonstrating his ability to adapt to different styles and genres. Lazy H, on the other hand, is a producer, trombonist, and synth wizard. He is actively involved in the London music scene and has worked with numerous artists, contributing his unique musical talents. With his skills on the trombone and in manipulating synthesizers, he adds an exciting element to Naná's new album.
